The challenge
Event details lived in three different Facebook groups. Members missed gatherings, and new arrivals to Austin could not find the club at all.
The strategy
One canonical calendar, one membership path, and a visual identity that honors the club's history without feeling like an archive.
What we changed
- Built a single events calendar with recurring event support
- Added a members area with renewal reminders
- Designed a photo-forward history section drawn from club archives
- Set up local search profiles pointing back to the site
Accessibility improvements
- ASL welcome video on the homepage
- High-contrast palette tested at 200% zoom
- Keyboard-navigable calendar with clear focus rings
- Plain-language event descriptions
Results
- +55%
- Event attendance
- +94%
- New member signups
- eliminated
- Facebook-only posts
